YOUR 'BRAND' IS YOUR STORY...
YOUR 'BRAND' IS YOUR STORY...
My Life In ‘BLUE’
My experiences as an officer for the Calgary Police service, (21 years) shaped who I would become as a wife, mother & woman.
Should I become ‘one of the boys’?
Could I ‘leave work at work’?
Who was I going to be?
Could I be this, and the other sides of me at the same time?
My story is complicated. It is ugly… It is beautiful… AND it is here for you to learn from….
“Being ‘PINK’
In A ‘BLUE’ World”
As a female police officer, Carlamay navigated a world where the demands of my profession often clashed with societal expectations of femininity. In a landscape where strength is synonymous with masculinity and toughness, standing true to her feminine identity felt like an uphill battle. Every day, Carlamay confronted the challenge of remaining authentically herself while fulfilling the responsibilities of her role.
This journey wasn't just about wearing a badge; it was about embracing the complexities of femininity in a world that sometimes seeks to bury it, both literally and figuratively. It was about defying stereotypes and reshaping perceptions of what it means to be a woman in law enforcement.
Femininity, to Carlamay, is more than just pink nail polish or delicate accessories. It's about embodying empathy, compassion, and resilience in the face of adversity. It's about finding strength in vulnerability, courage in authenticity, and grace in the midst of chaos.
Carlamay will explore the nuances of standing in her feminine while navigating a blue world that often tries to drown it out. Carlamay will share insights into how she reconciles the expectations of her profession with the essence of who she is as a woman. Together, you'll uncover strategies for staying true to oneself and embracing your femininity in environments that may seem overwhelmingly masculine.
Join Carlamay as she delves into the intricacies of remaining pink in a blue world, celebrating the power and resilience of femininity in the face of adversity.

Like you, I’ve experienced heartbreak, love, loss, trials, happiness and at times, extreme sadness.
These elements of life unite us all and yet we all experience them via different paths.
-
My career choice determined the way I would learn many of my life lessons was to be through the brutality of what humans are capable of doing to each other…
But, I was able to witness the extreme goodness we are capable of through forgiveness, kindness and compassion.
-
My ultimate calling is to lean into what I have learned through the light and the darkness of my police work and by doing so, provide you with the tools specific to my areas of expertise.

Creativity is about self expression outside of the one dimension we usually operate within.
It is about finding what makes you happy and developing it into a past time.
Is it archery? Is it hiking? Is it learning loads of new skills and becoming a ‘jack of all’?
Whatever lights your heart up is what to you must follow!
I have my own expressions of creativity! Some have led to notoriety and others to simply personal joy- all were successes because they taught me more about myself!
Lets chat about how you can find your expression of creativity!

Allowing yourself to have peace at home is absolutely critical for YOU, YOUR peace and YOUR balance.
This becomes even more important if you have children.
We will often ‘take the hit’ on ourselves, but as parents, it is our duty to ensure we provide and environment that is positive and as low in stress and high in love as we can.
Our bad days, are just bad days to us, but for the children under our care, those bad day accumulate and have lasting impacts on who they become, how they will receive and give love and much more.
I learned that balance. I learned how to leave my job, on the job..
Let me help you now so you can ‘skip to the front of the line’!

CARLAMAY’S BIO
With over two decades of service in law enforcement, I navigated the diverse landscape of this profession, contributing my skills to various specialty units. As a passionate advocate for empowerment, particularly of women, I have worked tirelessly to uplift and support those around me, from at-risk youth to newcomers and Immigrants; to fellow colleagues and everyone in-between.
My journey has been marked by resilience, overcoming the challenges of surviving cancer, a divorce, embracing single parenthood, and navigating the complexities of a PTSD diagnosis. Embracing the unconventional, I never conformed to societal expectations, choosing instead to live outside the confines of a “box”, paving my own unique path with purpose and determination.
Beyond my commitment to law enforcement, I have funneled my experiences into a compelling narrative. Through writing a book, I strive to bridge a generational gap, shedding light on what youth yearn for their parents, teachers, and friends to understand about them. My exploration dives into the unspoken desires these youth experience, offering insight into the questions that often linger in their minds, fostering a deeper understanding and connection with them. It’s my sincere hope to amplify the voices of the younger generation and to facilitate meaningful conversations that exceed the conventional boundaries of traditional communication.
No matter how difficult life has been or how tarnished you believe you are, each person has a diamond within them and when polished, it will shine bright. Each person brings a light into this world and it's each of our mission to see that light and help them to let it shine!
I retired this past May from the Calgary Police Service and have begun an amazing adventure as a keynote speaker and author. I am using my stories to empower others. I have a background in Psychology, Sociology and music and enjoy singing and spending time with my family.
I am finally living outside a box I never fit into.
